BAT Holiday Party Details
The December Baltimore Area Turners
club meeting will be our annual holiday party and is coming up
this Wednesday, December 13th. Family members and friends are
welcome! It will take place in our usual meeting room at Boumi
Temple located at 5050 King Avenue in Rosedale.
Couple of items to note:
WHAT TO BRING - BAT will supply cold cut
platters, cold salads, drinks and all paper goods. Members are
asked to bring along a side dish or desert to share. Large quantities
arent needed just enough to cover whoever will be
coming with you plus another 3 -4 people.
PEOPLE'S CHOICE AWARD - Bring a piece you
turned this past year and enter it into the People's Choice Award
contest. Prizes will be awarded based on votes cast by your fellow
members.
GIFT EXCHANGE Not mandatory, but
if you would like to bring along a wrapped gift to enter into
the gift exchange, please do so. Maximum value of $10, and handmade
items are always welcome.
NO WOOD RAFFLE - This month there's no
wood raffle, so dont bring anything this time. If you have
something, save it for January, that will be perfect. Wood does
not spoil!
PRESIDENTS CHALLENGE PIECES Last
chance to catch up for the year! Wed also like for everyone
to bring along the ones they have made throughout the year so
we can have another look at the fine craftsmanship that has been
demonstrated over the past 12 months. As a reminder, the six items
included:
-something elliptical
-3-4 legged stool
-something with a natural edge
-lidded box
-holiday ornament
-something segmented or laminated
WOODWORKING SHOW - The show signup list
will be available. The show is coming up January 5 7 at
the Timonium Fairgrounds and BAT will be there and demonstrating.
We need turners and folks to talk to interested attendees, so
please fill in a slot or two. If you want to turn at the show,
you need to be a member of AAW for insurance purposes.
2018 DUES - can also be paid this week.
The total for 2018 will be $25.00 each, payable by cash or check
BEADS OF COURAGE BOWLS In the spirit
of this being the season of giving, please bring along any completed
Beads of Courage bowls you may have created. We have a direct
conduit to deliver them to the folks at the Johns Hopkins Childrens
Center, and they are always most appreciated.
Looking forward to seeing everyone on Wednesday.
